What to do when you've gotten fat

So...it's come to this--blogging to lose weight. It's certainly not an original idea. In fact, it's probably been done by most over 20 tech savvy housewives in North America. While I'm not a housewife, I seem to be collecting extra layers around my belly, thighs and bum (and yes, I'm going to use the onion and self analogy). Hence, the need to blog about my attempt to lose these layers.

The story is, I'm a mid twenties new uni graduate. I've just moved back from two and a half years in Europe, am in a wonderful relationship with a fantastic man, and...am getting plump[er] by the day. At one point in my life I was what one might call super skinny. In fact, not one Asian kid in my class was bigger than me. However, those years of pre-pubescent rail like thinness are over. Over time, I've developed something of a "womanly" figure. Now, I've come to accept that I'll never be skinny. AND truth be told, I actually love my shape. I like how my waist curves inwards, how my bum curves outwards and that my breasts seem to protrude even if you look at me from behind :P I have a Scarlett Johansson body; well more like two of them. In short, I just wish there were less of me.

Now, I've lost weight before...about 30 pounds to be exact. But I've found that while I maintained this weight loss, there's still so much more to lose. [Side note-Isn't it strange that our society is all about mass consumption, in everything but actual mass?] But I'm determined--- I've going to lose another 30. And nothing is going to get in my way!

I'm going to use this blog as a way to make me accountable; it's a way for me to commit more to this challenge. I've decided to post my weight every week and to write about my struggle. Maybe it will inspire others, but  the point is...I think it will inspire me! :) I'm hoping to lose 30 pounds by September. That's 1 pound of fat lost per week...with a couple of "free" weeks to keep me on track. 30 pounds will also get me into the right BMI zone for my height.

Right now, as of February 4th 2010, I'm 175 pounds. By September 4th...I'll be 145.

We'll see how it goes! Wish me lots of luck!
